About ExportKhata and our editorial policy
Short answer
- Free tools and guides for Indian freelancers paid by foreign clients.
- Researched by the ExportKhata team from primary sources. We are not CAs and no CA has reviewed these pages yet.
- Every page shows a last-reviewed date and its sources.
What we do
ExportKhata publishes free tools and plain-English guides for Indian freelancers paid by foreign clients: the RBI Export Declaration Form (EDF), ITR forms, Section 58 (formerly 44ADA), GST and LUT.
Who writes and reviews
Pages are researched and reviewed by the ExportKhata team. We are not chartered accountants, and no CA has reviewed these pages yet. If you are a practising CA and would like to review our pages, with credit, join the waitlist and choose "I'm a CA"; we'll get in touch.
How we research
- Primary sources first: rbi.org.in, incometaxindia.gov.in, incometax.gov.in, cbic-gst.gov.in and the GST portal.
- Reputable news (Economic Times, Mint, Business Standard, Business Today) for statements not yet in writing, such as press-conference remarks, labelled as such.
- Posts on X or Reddit are used only to show what people are experiencing, always labelled as unverified.
- Where the rules are unclear, we say so, and we don't guess.
Dates and updates
Every page shows a "Last reviewed" date. The EDF FAQ keeps a dated changelog. We recheck the RBI FAQ status at least weekly while it's pending.
Calculators
Calculator logic is published in plain JavaScript and covered by worked-example tests. Each calculator lists what it leaves out.
Not advice
Nothing here is tax, legal or financial advice. Confirm with your CA before you file or pay.
